Autumn One

Why do squirrels hide their nuts?

In this Cornerstones© topic children will explore the woodland and investigate what happens during autumn and winter. Lines of enquiry will include:

* building relationships * what is migration? What is hibernation? How do animals survive the winter- how can we help? Winter stories

Autumn Two

What happens when I fall asleep?

In this Cornerstones© Topic the children will find out about the night sky and think about bedtime routines. They will learn about the importance of rest and sleep to be healthy. What animals come out at night and who works during the night are further questions to answer! Stories around bedtime and nighttime will be read and shared.

ISpring One

Are we there yet?

In this Cornerstones© Topic children will think about where they would like to go! How will they get there? This topic is all about transport and keeping safe near roads. Let us go on real and imaginary journeys and read books about transport and places to visit!

Spring Two

Are carrots orange?

In this Cornerstones© Topic children will think about their favourite foods and explore tastes and food types. They will investigate healthy options and follow simple recipes! Lots of books to share and read all about food! 

ISummer One

Why do ladybirds have spots?

In this Cornerstones© topic children will be searching out little bugs and minibeasts! Lines of enquiry will include:

* learning about spiders and webs * exploring under rocks * Making leaf pictures * counting ladybird spots in mathematics!

Summer Two

Why do zebras have stripes?

In this Cornerstones© Topic children will explore the animals of Africa! Where do lions live? Why does a giraffe have a long neck? What is camouflage? Enjoy lots of stories from Africa!
