Curriculum Displays

Intent

At Jubilee Wood School, we aim to create high-quality displays as a visual representation to celebrate our children’s achievements and inspire them to think imaginatively.

We incorporate 2D and 3D displays within classrooms and in focus areas around the school with high footfall such as, the libraries and corridors. Within classrooms we have implemented creative 3D displays as a key focus point in reading areas. This is to create a warm, friendly and inviting area where children can safely access reading material of their choice, in an environment that sparks their imagination. We have creative displays across the school based on topics covered in the curriculum. This helps to scaffold with the introduction of new topics and makes learning more accessible and engaging for diverse needs. It is highly important to ensure that a range of work is displayed, to ensure each child feels valued and their efforts are being celebrated.

Implementation

We will achieve this by regularly reviewing each of the following areas to ensure display work serves its purpose for our children:

*Visual Reinforcement: Displays/flip charts act as visual cues for key vocabulary, concepts, and processes (like number lines or grammar rules) to help with retention.

*Working Walls: Provide interactive resources for independent work, with examples of modelled work or key information.

*Introduce Topics: Visually represent new periods, settings, or characters to spark interest.

*Showcase Work: Displaying pupils work fosters pride, achievement, and a sense of accomplishment.

*Inspire Growth: Showing the learning journey allows individuals to look beyond the finished product and instead fully appreciate the process, allowing them to reflect on their growth and development.

Impact

Throughout the year, we want our displays to enhance learning, create an inclusive environment and motivate students. Our children should be able to use display work/flip charts as a source of reference to secure their knowledge of key concepts. By showcasing pupils work, if fosters a sense of belonging, and makes learning visible and engaging for all. We want our visual stimuli to act as a dynamic educational tool, turning spaces into interactive resources that spark curiosity and support different learning styles, rather than just decoration.

The impact of display work across the school will:

* Create belonging & inclusivity: Displays celebrating diversity, cultures, and individual progress help all learners feel valued and understood.

*Reinforce routines & rules: Display schedules, responsibilities, and behavioural expectations to promote independence and structure.

*Provide instant reference: Provide readily available information for quick checks.

*Encourage high-quality: Showcase excellence and set standards for aspirational work. Our displays also serve as the public face of the school, celebrating its character, values and ethos to the wider community.
